With this boiler I’m not getting a hard lockout. If it weren’t for the computer software telling me high outlet temp, I wouldn’t know. I watched the boiler go through 3 heat cycles, and the only thing the boiler is doing is going to "setpoint met". What is the part # of the sensor you replaced? I looked over the boiler parts list and I’m not sure what I need, water temp sensor, or high limit. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had this happen with Triangle Tube Solo and Weil McLain Ultra boilers, but non of my Knight installations. In the other cases, the property has "dirty power" that "flutters" when the power comes back on after an extended failure. In these cases, I installed a time delay relay that ensures that the power is steady and "clean" for 2 - 3 minutes before it sends the power back into the board in the boiler cabinet. This has solved those issues for us.

I had this happen in a mountain vacation home while the owner was away in California. It was a hard lockout, so I replaced the outlet sensor and have not had any problems with this fault since, but it has only been 6 weeks.

Today while reprogramming a customers boiler, I went to the fault history , and the last 9 faults had no error with 1 saying EEprom Program, which is understandable. The thing that concerns me is the last 10 blockings. They all say High outlet temp. What is the problem with this boiler, and can I correct it? edited by Mattv on 1/28/2012 edited by Mattv on 1/28/2012

Thanks, My I put my co2 at 10.7 on high and low per my Rep and it seem to get a little better but you can still hear it. I am at sea level. I thought maybe I should go higher on the co2 level. Whats your thoughts?

I had a KBN 150 lock out last year (winter) on a small commercial building. There was a surge of some sort which also fried the board in their overhead crane. It faulted and locked because it had a flame signal when no flame was present. The guys working there "just started pressing buttons and it fired up". There have been no issues since, or before that time, although I do strongly agree AN AUTOMATIC RESET NEEDS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THE CONTROLS. This was not a bad situation in my case, but as mentioned in the post above, a frozen house is bad press for Lochinvar. If they listen to contractors as well as Paul says they do then hopefully they'll do something.

I have installed MANY Lochinvar boilers and think they are great. I am having a problem with 2 boilers and cant seem to figure it out. I have 2 wbn085 boilers which are both propane My gas pressure is good ,My CO and CO2 are good, My venting is with in specs but this fog horn noise is pretty bad at 20%. I have changed the gas valve and orifice per my Lochinvar Rep who has also been a great help but I just wanted to put this out because I am out of trys at this point and good thing in my case my Cust. has been understanding. Please Help if you have a cure!!!! Thanks

what im doing now is hooking up alarm contacts to the house alarm panel. only problem is the control runs a relay test on all the relays everry so often so i added a time delay to the alarm contact so far so good. we did have a gas problem last summer and the boiler locked out and i got the call.

I am in the same situation with lock outs. My customer is gone a lot and if it wasn't for someone checking the house while he is gone, they would have the same problem. He is not happy with the situation. Is Lochinvar planning a change in their controls in the future? What about making the unit accessable through the internet? At least you could watch the system, or have it alert you to lock out conditions and be able to reset remotely. Don

I have a WHN199 hooked to a Honeywell AQ25142b controller. Using 0-10vdc to fire the boiler. AQ sensors are before and after closely spaced tees (working as system sensors), and boiler is set to adjust firing rate to dc signal (TT's are NOT hooked up). Wanted to try this to take advantage of both the outdoor and indoor load reset you can get out of the AQ, but it cycles the boiler like crazy. Tried setting the WHN to adjust setpoint to dc signal, but that made it worse. Set it to fire at .5vdc, and set min volt firing rate to 0%, max to 100%. The boiler is sized slightly large for the application due to snowmelt loops, but even still the AQ doesn't start ramping the WHN firing rate down soon enough. It doesn't ramp down to 20% untill system temp is at or over target temp. Supposedly its a "smart" controller and will adjust over time, but I'm not seeing it. Unfortunately, 0-10vdc input overrides any ramp delay settings on the WHN. The zone controller itself is really neat, but I'm starting to think its not worth a whooey at controlling the boiler. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. edited by PPHAK on 10/21/2011

Harmonic Vibration at low fire

I had a similar occurrence with a KBN 105. However I solved the problem with a stiffening bracket Lochinvar provided. The bracket fits across the heat exchanger and applys tension to the top and sides of the heat exchanger. I did some further research on this problem and it can be defined as thermo-acoustic vibration. This sounds very much like a howl or a moose call. NASA has had this problem on rockets.

Yes the check valves are integrated in the grundfos pumps. I turned down my setpoint tempature on the DHW to 165 as well. It hasn"t locked out since Sunday, so ?

you do have check valves on your dhw and boiler pumps or pipeing?
